2019 - 2020

• Organizer: The English Day: I organized and managed a unique event which the Department of English held for the first time. We invited High Schools from the United Arab Emirates and prepared a full day of activities and workshops for them. We also coordinated with publishers and robot companies in the country to take part of the event. Most if not all reviews and reports showed its success and tremendous impact on the visibility of the English Department.

• Member: The Self Study Report: I closely worked with the Head of the English Department and a few other colleagues to finalize a draft of the Bachelors’ Degree reaccreditation.

• Member: The BA Revision File: I worked closely with the Head of the English Department and a few other colleagues to finalize a draft of the newly revised structure and content version of the BA degree.

• Co-Chair: The Outreach & Marketing Committee: We held five meetings and organized a few major events at the department level and at the university level, the DoE Fellows Open Mic Night and the DoE English Day, respectively. We were also involved in designing new DoE brochures and a new volume of the online ASRAR Journal.

• Member: The Department of English Committees: I have been an active member of the Writing for Business and Advanced Academic Writing committees, ENG 225 and ENG 204, respectively. We held a few meetings and discussed changes to syllabi and course textbooks.

• Advisor: Students’ Advising: In addition to the Department of English undergraduate students I hold advising meetings with each semester, I have been working closely with a PhD student who is writing on the effect of arts integration on Tunisian EFL students’ oral proficiency, and who is scheduled to defend her thesis in the near future.

• Organizer: Students’ Activities: I involve the Department of English students in the International Emirates Literature Festival every year and I distribute relevant novels to them. In addition, I had the students prepare a short video to promote the English Department in the English Day event.

• Representative: College & University: College of Arts and Sciences Representative in the International Education Show Najah, Abu Dhabi: October 30 to November 1, 2019.

• International Higher Education Exhibition.

• Member: Community-based Activities: I took part of two judging panels of the English short story competitions. One competition is Sharjah Sustainability Award organized by the Environment and Protected Area Authority (EPAA) (November 2019 – April 2020). The second one is also an English short story competition organized by the Ministry of Education, Sharjah (March-April, 2020).
